Home Learning

Overview

In this section, you will find our plans for the provision of home education in the event of a class, Key Stage or whole school closure due to severe weather. This provision will also be used for individual students if there is a need for them to work at home for medical reasons

What to expect where classes or Key Stages are not in school due to severe weather

  • If there is more than one day school closure, work is uploaded onto the class eSchools homepage. The same curriculum is available here as would be taught in school wherever possible and appropriate; however, some adaptations may be needed in some subjects.

  • Primary - for each of the days that children are at home, we provide a maths lesson, a phonics and a topic lesson that could encompass any other taught subject.

  • Seniors - for each of the days that students are at home, we provide a maths lesson, an English lesson, a guided reading lesson, and a topic lesson that could encompass any other taught subject

  • Any extra learning, if the closure is extended, can be found through our Cornerstones learning map and can be used at parental discretion.

  • Parents are always welcome to support their child's learning using their ILP targets that are sent home termly and discussed at parents' evenings

If your child is unwell, they should be resting and not working to ensure a swift recovery. No home learning is provided for children who are unwell.

Our Remote Learning Policy can be downloaded from the link below.

In addition to our customised home learning program and the materials made available directly to our students via eSchools, here are some links for useful websites and resources that will help you with learning from home for your children.
