School Houses

School Houses

On admission to the school every child is placed in a school house. These are named after famous explorers who gained skills and knowledge through their adventurers, tying in with our school motto “A caring school where adventures happen”.

Hilary House – green

Named after Sir Edmund Hilary a New Zealand mountain climber and Antarctic explorer. He was the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest alongside Tenzing Norgay.

Earhart House – red

Named after Amelia Earhart, the American aviation pioneer who was the first solo female pilot to fly non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean in her bright red Lockheed 5B Vega plane. She also attempted to be the first female pilot to circumnavigate the globe.

MacArthur House - blue

Named after Dame Ellen MacArthur, the English long distance yachtswoman, who broke the world record for the fastest solo navigation of the globe.

We want all our pupils to see school as an adventure of fun and learning, a journey we travel with them with care and creativity while empowering them to fulfil their potential.

Throughout each term, pupils are encouraged to celebrate and share their achievements through collecting coins. These are given out for any reason, deemed worthy by the staff team, from excellent work, good listening to being helpful. The coins are added to the house team tube in Friday assemblies and at the end of each term, the winning team can wear their own clothes to school on the last day.

Pupils are encouraged to wear a QEII PE T-shirt, in their house colour, for PE each week. These can be ordered from www.taylormadeuniforms.co.uk

If you are unsure of which house your child is in, please ask your class teacher.
